  • BIODANCE SUMMER DANCE INTENSIVE - July 8-13, 2012 at Kinections (718 University, Rochester, NY). From 9:30am - 8:30pm, study intensively with careful personal attention with Missy Pfohl Smith, Eran Hanlon, Juie Schlafer, Laura Regna, Courtney World and Kathryn Bowering.  An informal showing featuring BIODANCE and intensive participants will culminate the full week of study. Register by June 15 for an Early Bird Discount.  Limited to 12 participants.

  • First Niagara Rochester Fringe Festival:  Breakdown: Dance/Sound: BIODANCE and Sound ExChange, Sat. Sept. 22, 2012!
  • November 30, 2012:  One-Night Only! BIODANCE HOME SEASON at Hochstein Performance Hall, 8pm.  Featuring a reprise of the popularly acclaimed Liebeslider in collaboration with Resonanz and the Rochester premiere of No Dancing Allowed, both choreographed by Missy Pfohl Smith.  This concert will also introduce the choreographic voices of several of the dancers of BIODANCE with three premieres!

  • MARCH 30, 2012:  WOMEN IN MUSIC FESTIVAL: Noon at MILLER ATRIUM, Max at Eastman, BIODANCE performs with vocalist Emily Mills and musicians of Ossia to the original music of Jennifer Bellor.
  • MARCH 31, 2012:  CLASSICAL IDOL; BIODANCE performs as a guest artist in this popular Rochester Oratorio Society event at Hochstein Performance Hall at 7:30pm.

  • MARCH 9, 2012:  BIODANCE collaborates with the Rochester Oratorio Society in Spirit of the Dance at Hochstein Performance Hall (50 Plymouth Ave, Rochester) on at 7:30pm! The Rochester Oratorio Society has commissioned a new work by Missy Pfohl Smith to Brahms' beloved Liebeslider.  The concert also featured the BIODANCE premiere of Bill Evans' Scherzo.
OUTREACH
BIODANCE donated a performance to benefit the Smith Opera House in Geneva, NY on July 16.  The Musselman Arts Triathlon was fantastically fun for us!

Recent BIODANCE activity has supported Haiti relief, AIDS research/education and families in need.

OPEN TECHNIQUE CLASS
BIODANCE has opened its company technique class on many Monday nights at 7:00pm at Kinections, 718 University (entrance on Atlantic Ave.), Rochester, NY. $10 per class, walk-ins welcome, but please email first to confirm class (biodance@frontiernet.net) as sometimes rehearsals interrupt.

  • FABO COLLABO was a sold-out success!  Congratulations to BIODANCE and its partners: Bill Evans Dance Company, Geomantics Dance Theater, Futurpointe Dance and PUSH Physical Theater who collaborated for five fabulous evenings of dance at Geva's Fielding Nextstage.   • Jan. 26-28:  BIODANCE collaborated with InFusion Action Theatre and poets from The Beets to present A Brief History of Women at MUCCC.

December 18: BIODANCE had its NYC premiere of I.T. in WAXworks at Triskelon Arts Theater at 118 N. 11th St., on the 3rd Floor, Brooklyn, at 7pm.

October 14-15: No Dancing Allowed, World Premiere featuring choreography by Missy Pfohl Smith based on historical dances of the WWII era and visual art by Allen Topolski at Finger Lakes Dance! Presents: Re-Fuse:  Recyle and Reuse, Cracker Factory, Geneva, NY, 7:30pm.

July 16: BIODANCE performs at the 3rd Annual Musselman Arts Triathalon in Geneva, NY at the Smith Opera House at 2pm.

June 30: BIODANCE performs at Bill Evans Dance Company and Friends at 7:30pmin Hartwell Theater, The College at Brockport.

May 26:  BIODANCE performs at the annual meeting for The Arts and Cultural Council of Greater Rochester

May 13, 2011: BIODANCE performed to over 700 students at Mercy High Shool in Rochester, NY at 12:45pm. Interactive lecture demonstration engaged students to dance in their seats and on-stage with company members.

April 30/May 1:  BIODANCE members Missy Pfohl Smith, Courtney World, Cadence Whittier and Caitlyn Schrader perform in the premiere of Cynthia Williams' "Yellow Unexpected" in Vision of Sound to the new and live music of Mark Olivieri.  April 30 at 7:30pm at Hochstein School in Rochester and May 1 at 4:30pm at Plymouth Congregational Church (232 E. Onondaga St.) in Syracuse.

March 4, 2011, BIODANCE performs at Cornell University's Locally Grown Dance in Ithaca, NY at 7:30pm.

January 8, 2011, BIODANCE premiered new work to newly commissioned score for piano and violin by Mark Olivieri in Seattle, WA at Song Nouveau, the inaugural concert of the Tangletown Trio. BIODANCE Director Missy Pfohl Smith's performed in this hot-off-the-press solo. Check out Tangletown Trio's facebook page for a glimpse.
