Coming from the nation’s capital, Washington, DC, Yaa-Adenike Cunningham studied and performed professional West African dance and music from the age of 3. Here she performed professionally with the company Farafina Kan until the year of 2019. She also performed with Dance Place Step Team and the well-renowned Baba Chuck Davis for four consecutive years for the Dance Africa DC Dance festival. Finally, she began her collegiate journey at the University of Rochester where her language in dance had expanded. She graduated with two Bachelor’s degrees in Dance Studies and African & African-America Studies in May of 2021. Yaa joined BIODANCE in 2022.
